Baby Buck Banding!
Hi Mamas,
Now that Bucky Boots is old enough and his urinary tract is fully developed, we have made the decision to band him so he won’t accidentally impregnate his mama!
Wether to band or castrate is a personal decision, but I feel banding is a less painful process for the goat without having a big surgical site that can pose the risk of possible infection. Banded goats typically respond very well with little pain, and are running around normally within minutes of banding!
Check out our Bucky Boots and follow along with the 4 week banding process! ❤️🐐❤️🐐
Bucky Boots did amazing his first night after banding! 🐐💖 He’s been super active and running around. I’m keeping the area clean with Betadine and will monitor over the next few weeks until everything heals. All should stay painless as long as it goes to plan! 👍
We have been applying Betadine to the affected area and in a couple weeks the banding will be complete! 👍
After 4 weeks of waiting our buckling banding is complete and our sweet little Bucky Boots is now a healthy, happy “wether”! 💖🐐
For those of you who don’t know what a “wether” is it’s a male goat that has been castrated. 💖🐐
All part of life with a backyard mini farm! 💖🐐
