Pre-K Sheep Learning
Hi mamas,
Our Pre-K friends are diving into the wonderful world of sheep!
Students are learning about the many products that come from sheep’s wool, including yarn, blankets, sweaters, and scarves.
They also discovered that sheep have rectangular pupils, produce lanolin that is used in face creams and skincare products, and have four-chambered stomachs just like other ruminants.
Along the way, students learned that a daddy sheep is called a ram, a mommy sheep is called a ewe, and a baby sheep is called a lamb.

Pre-k Sheep Shearing
Hi mamas,
Our Pre-K friends are learning where wool comes from through a very special sheep shearing experience!
Students learned that sheep provide the wool used to make blankets, sweaters, and many other cozy products.
Today, Darryl, a farrier and sheep shearer, joined us to help shear our sheep while students observed the shearing and learned all about this important process!
Students discovered that shearing doesn’t hurt the sheep, just like getting a haircut doesn’t hurt us! They were amazed to watch one of our sheep transform from looking brown and fluffy to revealing its darker wool underneath after its haircut.

Pre-k BA BA Black Sheep
Hi mamas,
Our Pre-K friends are enjoying a fun musical moment during our Sheep Study!
Students sang “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” alongside one of our sheep, bringing this beloved nursery rhyme to life in a way they will never forget.
Hands-on learning experiences like these help students build connections between stories, songs, and the world around them.

First Grade Sheep Shearing
Hi mamas,
Our first grade friends are discovering the amazing world of sheep!
Students explored freshly shorn wool and described it as soft and a little sticky. They learned that the sticky feeling comes from lanolin, a natural oil used in lotions, face creams, and other skincare products.
Students also learned that a baby sheep is called a lamb and a mommy sheep is called a ewe.
From scarves and sweaters to rugs and blankets, students discovered the many ways sheep’s wool is used in everyday life.
